For many of us educators, PowerPoint® software has always been a information delivery tool. In many of cases, we also think of PowerPoint® as a "linear only" delivery tool. How wrong we are. Through the insights of PowerPoint® MVP's like Dr. David Marcovitz, educators now have the ability to turn PowerPoint® presentations into an interactive delivery and testing tool. In addition, there are other testing programs that are currently on the market that can be incorporated into your PowerPoint® solution. Testing is not the only additional feature in aPowerPoint® presentation, interactive games can also heighten the instructional experience. The purpose of this page is to be a repository of different types of PowerPoint® testing scripts, programs, interactive games, rubrics and other solutions, which can be coupled with PowerPoint® to create effective assessment tools. Feel free to choose whatever solution you need and alter to fit your particular specifications. Some of the files found on this page will be text files that you will be able to put into PowerPoint® 2003 and adjust. Make sure that you follow the basic installation tutorial to incorporate PowerPoint® scripts. If you need graphics to include with your presentation, make sure you visit the freebies page.

Assessments Assessment programs can be incorporated into PowerPoint® by using the LiveWeb add-on developed by Shyam Pillia. By saving the quizzes/exams on a web (html) page, LiveWeb can then bring that page into a PowerPoint® presentation whether its found on the internet in real time, or stored on your computer harddrive.

Hot Potatoes                                                                                                                                                                        Top
The Hot Potatoes suite includes six applications, enabling you to create interactive multiple-choice, short-answer, jumbled-sentence, crossword, matching/ordering and gap-fill exercises for the World Wide Web. Hot Potatoes is not freeware, but it is free of charge for those working for publicly-funded non-profit-making educational institutions, who make their pages available on the web. Other users must pay for a licence. Hot Potatoes is another example of existing assessment software that can be incorporated into PowerPoint® presentations via the add-on LiveWeb. Not only can you create traditional assessments, but you also have the opprtunity to include crosswords and jumble puzzles. If you want to keep the "Free" feature for educators intact, you have to be able to do without the Masher program. Masher allows you to combine the various exercises together to form a cohesive unit. In reality, this is something that you can do on your own without having to use Masher. For further information in that area, feel free to email me.
